𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 🔍 Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission has opened a consultation on the Gambling Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2025, which would let regulators fine directors, compliance officers and other senior staff directly where AML failures occur with their "𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦." The consultation closes 25 May. It follows a £200,000 penalty against Shelgeyr Limited in February, where the Commission found inadequate due diligence, lapsed compliance training, and a MLRO without sufficient authority or expertise. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁. Entity-level fines have been the norm. If this bill passes, the individuals responsible for building and running compliance systems face direct exposure. The jurisdiction has rated its financial crime risk as "medium high" since 2020, and clearly views individual accountability as the next lever. Compliance is no longer just a box the company ticks.
