SiGMA Africa 2026 | Panel Discussion: Regulating Africa – Putting the Player First The Chief Executive Officer of the African iGaming Alliance (AiA), Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe , participated in a panel discussion this morning at SiGMA Africa 2026 titled “Regulating Africa: Putting the Player First.” The discussion brought together regulators and industry leaders to examine how African jurisdictions can strengthen player protection frameworks while supporting sustainable growth of regulated gaming markets. The panel deliberated on a number of key issues shaping the regulatory landscape across the continent, including: • The balance between market growth and player protection • The importance of evidence-based and data-driven regulation • Ensuring responsible gambling measures protect players without unintentionally driving activity to unlicensed operators • The growing role of technology and behavioural monitoring tools in supporting responsible gambling • Opportunities for greater cooperation among African regulators in addressing cross-border illegal operators The session underscored the importance of collaboration between regulators, industry and other stakeholders to build sustainable, transparent and well-regulated gaming markets across Africa.
