Mediabuying today: A conversation with our Head of mediabuying, Vasya Vasya is our Head of Mediabuying and an active affiliate manager. We spoke about how the market has evolved, what happened to the “golden ROI era,” why Facebook is still alive, and what truly defines a strong media buyer in 2026 🗣️Vasya, how did you move into mediabuying? I started as an affiliate manager and eventually became a team lead in the mediabuying department We understood that this direction required strong internal control, so instead of relying solely on external buyers, we decided to build our own in-house mediabuying team 🗣️How has the market changed in recent years? There used to be an era of extremely high profitability in mediabuying. ROI of 300–1000% was achievable and not unusual. Today, those numbers are rare. Now, an average ROI of around 70% is considered solid performance. The market has matured 🗣️Is Facebook still relevant? In many ways, launching campaigns has become easier - the tools are more automated and the interfaces more user-friendly. However, analytics and cause-and-effect tracking have become more complex. You need to deeply understand performance metrics and data relationships. We work primarily with Facebook and in-app traffic sources, and both require a strong analytical foundation. 🗣️Has working with brands changed? We focus on working directly with brand representatives. When you have a trusted partner, you can build a close and flexible relationship. 🗣️ What defines a professional media buyer today? A professional buyer truly understands what they’re doing. The key difference between an average and a strong buyer is clarity of direction That was Vasya’s perspective on the mediabuying market.
