The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) has announced that RG Check accreditation is now a mandatory requirement for all internet gaming sites entering Alberta’s regulated market. This partnership between the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) and AiGC establishes a robust player protection framework by ensuring every regulated operator meets the highest evidence-based standards for responsible gambling. By integrating this requirement into the market’s foundation from the ground up, Alberta is ensuring that player safety is verified through independent assessment rather than treated as a secondary compliance measure. RG Check, a Canadian-made and globally trusted program, evaluates operators across multiple standards, including governance and policy, player safeguards, staff training, and marketing practices. To support market entry, RGC has established a streamlined process for operators who already hold RG Check accreditation in other jurisdictions. While a distinct Alberta accreditation is required, RGC will recognize existing accreditations to reduce administrative burden and costs while maintaining the same rigorous level of protection. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a safer, sustainable iGaming environment where protecting players is a central priority.
